Community

RES Americas values a rewarding workplace that promotes personal and professional development that favorably impacts people, local communities and the environment.

OCTOBER 2011

Oct 17 - RES Americas' Crossroads Wind Farm team was awarded the Commander's Award for Public Service from the US Army Corps of Engineers for their efforts in cleaning up the Canton Lake area after a tornado hit the community. Normally the award, the fourth highest honor the United States Department of the Army can bestow upon a civilian, is given to an individual but the US Army Corps of Engineers was allowed to give it to RES Americas.   The Commander's Award for Public Service consists of a bronze medal, lapel button, and citation certificate. It ranks directly below the Outstanding Civilian Service Award and may be approved by any commander (colonel and above).  This award is given to recognize service or achievements that contribute significantly to the accomplishment of the mission of an Army activity, command, or staff agency. We are very proud of our employees for exemplifying the RES Americas value of favorably impacting local communities.

JUNE 2011

June 22 - RES Americas sponsored a breakfast station for those who participated in the annual “Bike to Work Day” in the Denver metro area.  The event encouraged commuters to adopt alternative transportation methods that are beneficial to the environment.  Within a three-hour time span, company volunteers handed out nearly 300 burritos and bottles of sunscreen to bikers.  Many RES Americas staff rode their own bikes to work, took alternative transportation or volunteered at the breakfast station, exemplifying RES Americas’ core value of favorably impacting the environment.

June 18 - RES Americas, RES Earth and Cable, and the Crossroads Wind Farm team worked with the US Army Corps of Engineers' local Canton Lake office and the Canton Chamber of Commerce to support their volunteer tornado clean-up efforts. 56 Crossroads employees and family members volunteered - gathering, piling, and bagging debris along the Canton Lake dam and shorelines. Some volunteers prepared lunch for other individuals involved in the clean-up and RES Americas and RES Earth and Cable used their heavy equipment to remove and dispose of the debris. It was a great team effort and for the story click here.

DECEMBER 2010

December 15 - In the spirit of the holiday season RES Americas teamed up with the Salvation Army and sponsored three local families in need. Donation boxes quickly filled up with Harry Potter broomsticks, toy horses, skateboards, baseball gear, Nerf guns, Transformers, pillow pets and cars that the children had requested of Santa Claus. Along with toys, employees responded with mountains of new clothes and grocery gift certificates for the families. The boxes were loaded up and delivered to the Salvation Army in Broomfield, CO on December 15 for the families to pick up and wrap for the children.  In addition to the gifts from RES Americas, the Broomfield Salvation Army collected donations to meet the wishes of 259 local families.

October 20 - RES Americas is committed to being a good corporate citizen and believes we have the greatest impact when all employees give back and are active in their communities.  On October 20, our legal department donated their time and man power to Growing Gardens, a community garden in Boulder, CO. The team enjoyed a day out of the office weeding and preparing the gardens for the upcoming cooler weather while giving back to the community. The day was such a success future plans have been made for the team to revisit the community garden and continue the partnership. After the event the Volunteer Coordinator from the gardens had these compliments to share, "I wanted to take a moment to say how great it was to have you and the GREAT VOLUNTEERS from Renewable Energy Systems Americas Inc. that you brought to the gardens. It was a fantastic sight to see you and your co-workers in the gardens celebrating and connecting with the Earth and to celebrate the beautiful fall weather we were blessed with. The wonderful energy and caring you all brought to the space was fantastic."
