Mr. Ashby has over nineteen years of U.S. and international financial structuring, mergers & acquisitions, strategic advisory and project development experience covering the power generation, electric and gas transmission, LNG, renewable energy, water and solid waste sectors and involving over US$ 30 billion in transaction activity.
Prior to joining RES Americas in June 2007, Mr. Ashby was the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Perennial Power Holdings, Inc., the North American power generation subsidiary of the Sumitomo Corporation of Japan.
Between 2000 and 2005, Mr. Ashby held a variety of roles with strategic consultant, Pace Global Energy Services. As Co-head of the Power Due Diligence and Transaction Advisory practice, Mr. Ashby and his team supported acquisition, financing and divestiture activity in the power and energy sector including portfolio and single asset syndicated debt transactions, leverage lease financings, private placements and Rule 144A transactions.
Mr. Ashby spent the first ten years of his career involved in the development and financing of international energy infrastructure with project development and advisory experience in the Caribbean, Italy, Russia, India, Pakistan, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore.
Most significantly, between 1995 and 1998, Mr. Ashby co-founded an emerging markets private equity firm, Infrastructure Capital Group, LLC, where he led the development and financing of coal and gas-fired power plants in South-East Asia.
From 1990 to 1994, Mr. Ashby was located in London, England, with an affiliate of International Power plc where he was a member of the team which successfully led the development and financing of the World Bank-supported US$ 1.8 billion, 1,300 MW Hub Power Project in Pakistan
Mr. Ashby holds an undergraduate degree in Finance and Accounting from the Georgia Institute of Technology, an MBA in Corporate Finance from SUNY-Buffalo and a certificate from the Executive Leadership Acceleration Program at the University of Notre Dame.
