Supervisor: Senior Estimating Manager

Description: This key member of the team will be responsible for providing accurate and competitive estimates and leading bid teams for construction cost and schedule in support of the Company’s renewable energy utility plant development and construction business.

Responsibilities:

1. Using standardized tools and processes, prepare accurate and competitive estimates of project cost and schedule.
2. Develop documentation of cost and schedule in support of the bidding process.
3. Define scope of work within a proposal.
4. Gather details and maintain current market data necessary to accurately estimate construction, material, and soft costs associated with project construction.
5. Receive requests for quotes from in-house developers and from third party construction bids.
6. Lead bid teams for competitive bids, facilitate kickoff meetings and estimate review meetings.
7. Maintain and develop productive relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.
8. Review quote requirements, work with design team to define engineering requirements, estimate quantities and obtain quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
9. Efficiently analyze multiple quotes for necessary scopes of work required, summarize into proposal form and provide complete project estimate spreadsheets.
10. Familiarity with and ability to stay current regarding changing regulatory requirements, commodity pricing, and current market conditions.
11. Possess familiarity with standard construction industry concepts, practices, and procedures.
12. Civil and/or Electrical construction experience required. Experience in utility grade power plant or transmission construction and cost estimation a strong plus.
13. Experience working with subcontractors to define scope of work.
14. Familiar with concepts surrounding and strong ability to identify, recognize, and implement potential “value engineering” opportunities.
15. Show ability to drive innovation of new processes and construction techniques while supporting corporate standards for quality.
16. Be able to work well as part of a team that crosses many organizational functions.
17. Follow standard processes and best practices and continually seek to improve the proposal process.  ASPE certification a plus.
18. Possess the ability to recognize and recommend alternative designs/scope definitions which support consistency, standardization, and cost competitiveness.
19. Represents the company with high level of integrity to meet contractual requirements.
20. Ensures Safety, Quality and Environmental procedures are maintained.
21. Understanding of contract terms and ability to recognize discrepancies.

Requirements:

1. Minimum 5 yrs of proven utility or industrial experience that includes a proven track record in civil and/or electrical construction estimating.
2. Expertise and the necessary skills to interface with the Client and will be instrumental in delivering on time cost effective projects.
3. ABILITY TO TRAVEL
4. Skilled in MSOffice and Outlook, On-Screen Take-Off and Sage Timberline Estimating.
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly describe the advantages and disadvantages of various designs.
6. Self-motivated and be able to complete all tasks on time with minimal supervision.

Education:

BS in Construction Management or Engineering degree in related areas such as Civil, Structural, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
