Supervisor: Director, HSQE

Description: SAFETY Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all safety matters are carried out in accordance with the Company Illness and Injury Prevention Program and Safety Management System (SMS).

Responsibilities:

1. Monitor safety on site and ensure that both OSHA and other regulations and the requirements of RES are being complied with; complete safety inspection documentation (daily inspection sheets and a more comprehensive weekly inspection report).
2. Ensure that the requirements of the Safety Management System are being complied.
3. Develop the SMS and write safety procedures as necessary.
4. Advise senior management on safety issues.
5. Have knowledge with the requirements and application of the Department of Transportation Regulations.
6. Ensure that suitable Risk Assessments are prepared for all operations under the control of the Company, where significant risks are identified.
7. Ensure (insist) that safe working procedures are observed at all times.
8. Ensure that all improving or remedial actions issued are closed out; these actions may be raised by RES staff or a safety consultant engaged by RES. A record of all actions will be kept for close out.
9. Undertake site safety inductions for new staff/sub-contractors staff.
10. Undertake safety training within the range of your knowledge and capabilities e.g. first aid, deep excavations etc.
11. Undertake accident/ near miss investigations and ensure that all accidents and near misses are documented and reported as required by regulations and RES accident reporting procedure; complete all necessary paperwork; ensure that relevant members of staff receive copies of all reports.
12. Immediately stop any work where there is an imminent danger.
13. Bring to the attention of RES staff and subcontractors any activities that present a hazard to their own personnel, other personnel, operatives or the general public.
14. Cooperate with all levels of management and others in matters of safety, health and welfare.
15. Produce daily/ weekly and/or monthly reports as required by the Director HSQE.
16. Undertake work in a manner that does not endanger yourself or others.
17. Ensure that statutory forms and posters are displayed as appropriate.
18. Ensure that sufficient protective clothing and equipment is available and used as necessary.
19. Ensure that safety training is provided to staff as necessary.
20. Allow employees, self employed persons and subcontractors to discuss and offer advice on matters relevant to health and safety and to ensure co-ordination of the views of employees where necessary for reasons of health and safety.
21. Set a personal example.
22. Must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, possess an appropriate valid driver's license, possess personal insurance coverage, and have an acceptable driving record.
23. Must be able to work professionally with clients, vendors, employees, managers and supervisors.
24. Regular attendance is an essential requirement of the job.
25. Maintain safety statistics and statutory safety documentation as required.
26. Follow any other job-related duties/functions requested by the supervisor.

Requirements:

1. Minimum 3-5 yrs of proven utility or industrial experience that includes a proven track record of construction projects.
2. Needs expertise and the necessary skills to interface with the Client and will be instrumental in delivering a SAFE work environment while dealing with cost, time and quality constraints.
3. Preferred - Bachelors or Associates Degree along with applicable safety training e.g. OSHA training.
4. MUST have the ABILITY TO TRAVEL, living at worksite for approximately 9months.  Eligibility for per diems based on company criteria.
5. Skilled in MSOffice and Outlook.
6. Valid driver license, driving record is required as part of background investigation.
7. References required.

Education:

Associates or Bachelors Degree, preferably in safety management, science or engineering, with applicable safety training.
