Supervisor: VP, Financial Controller

Description: In the position of Payroll Manager, the incumbent will have responsibility for processing and submitting payrolls in an accurate and timely manner.

Responsibilities:

1. Hands on full cycle payroll manager.  
2. Process timecard data to include time worked absence reporting, bonus payments, termination and severance payments, and other payroll related transactions.
3. Process non-cash payroll records to include moving expenses, fringe benefits, expatriate income and other payroll related transactions.
4. Process payroll cycle and submit to ADP, review payroll registers and other payroll reporting for accuracy. Balance payrolls and verify all source data has appropriately been reflected in the final payroll result.
5. Process manual check requests when appropriate.
6. Process executive and expatriate payroll data.
7. Manage garnishment process including initial processing, notifications, verification of garnishment calculations and responding to garnishment inquiries and reporting requirements in a professional and timely manner.
8. Ensure all source documents are appropriately authorized prior to executing within the payroll process. Proactively interpret and apply any changes to Company policies and state or federal regulations which have payroll implications. Communicate changes and escalate as appropriate.
9. Provide excellent customer service. Respond to associates and departmental inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
10. Support other members of the Transaction Processing team during high volume periods.
11. Supports external audits by facilitating the provision of data to external auditors and responding to inquiries in a timely and professional manner.

Requirements:

1. At least 7 years of experience.
2. Proven ability to process high volume transactions while maintaining high degree of accuracy and consistency. Excellent data entry skills.
3. Maintains composure under time pressure; demonstrated reliability.
4. Strong customer service orientation.
5. Complete understanding of payroll processes and laws.
6. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
7. Strong team player; proactively able to step in to support other team members as needed and share knowledge to allow cross training of all functions, builds collaborative relationships.
8. Demonstrated problem solving skills: understanding of appropriate escalation points.
9. Strong communication skills, written and verbal. Solid interpersonal skills to effectively interact at all levels, across functions.
10. Strong understanding of payroll tax, garnishment  and FLSA.
11. 401(k) administration, testing and audit.
12. Canadian payroll.
13. International payroll - tax equalization (employees in Chili, Canada, France, UK, Bermuda), ex-pat.
14. Work comp audit.
15. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) - at least they have had to keep up on payroll education.
16. Understanding of taxable items and imputed income (GTL and personal use of company vehicle).
17. Multi-state payroll, filing for new state tax ID's, setting them up on ADP.
18. RRSP administration for Canadian employees - once per year.

Education:

Requires a bachelor's degree in a related area and at least 7 years of experience in the field.
