RES Americas Begins Construction on Hackberry Wind Project

Development will power more than 44,000 Texas homes. AUSTIN, TX – Today Renewable Energy Systems Americas, Inc. (RES Americas) announced the start of construction on the $350 million Hackberry Wind Project in Abilene, Texas.  The project will produce 165 MW of clean, sustainable, wind energy to be used by residents of the City of Austin and surrounding communities.

"RES Americas looks forward to creating a sustainable energy future for Texas.   We aim to be a responsible contributor in both the wind community and the communities that we operate in," said Craig Mataczynski, President of RES Americas.  "RES Americas has been involved in West Texas wind projects since the first sites were developed in the McCamey area and expects be involved in the Texas wind industry as long as the wind keeps blowing.”

The target completion date is December 2008.  The project will be built, owned and operated by RES Americas through its wholly owned affiliate, Hackberry Wind, LLC.In 2007, RES Americas completed 870 MW at 7 projects in the states of Texas, Washington and Wyoming, enough to power more than 230,000 homes.   In 2008, RES Americas is on track to build 1387 MW of wind energy in Texas, Wyoming, Kansas and Washington that will bring nearly 1,000 construction jobs to the local economies and power 375,000 homes.  Approximately 1,000,000 people are benefiting from the sustainable and inexhaustible supply of energy that is produced by projects that RES Americas has been involved in.

RES Americas has been active in the US market since 1997 and has played a major role in developing more than 10% of the operating wind projects in the United States and more than 20% of the installed wind capacity in the State of Texas.   ### Renewable Energy Systems Americas (RES Americas) is the North American arm of the Renewable Energy Systems group of companies (RES Group).
