Ainsworth Wind Farm
Ainsworth, Nebraska
RES Americas constructed the 36 Vestas 1.8 MW turbine wind energy facility at Ainsworth, Nebraska under an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract with project owner Nebraska Public Power District.
Construction was completed within in 9 months and commercial operation began in September 2005. RES Americas was responsible for the first two years of operation. The project generates enough electricity to meet the average needs of approximately 19,000 homes per year.
Mr. Russ Moody, mayor of Ainsworth said in the New York Times article In the Hills of Nebraska, Change Is on the Horizon on August 4, 2008, that “It was, shall we say, a godsend when we were picked up to be the first major wind farm in Nebraska”.
